have thinning hair, particularly in the front. It’s been gradually thinning for years (since I was around 20). I had laser treatments, which were mildly effective, but I could not afford to continue them. I don’t like Rogaine because if you stop using it, the new hair falls out. Upon the recommendation of a hair transplant center, I went to my gynocologist for a hormone test; she told me that I had higher androgen levels and insulin resistance (which I understand is also called Metabolic Syndrome). This may be one reason that my hair is thinning, but I am not qualified to really speculate. It seems like it could be anything genetic.
My sister told me about a treatment that she saw on a home shopping channel. The treatment is called Ojan, and the kit comprises of hair shampoo, conditioner, a leave-in treatment and a serum that needs to be applied weekly. The cost is pretty high, but I am considering getting it because it would be cheaper than the laser treatments.
My questions are these: (1) Has anyone tried the Ojan kit that I am referring to? If so, was it helpful? Did your hair thicken up? Secondly, what other treatments are available that would not be cost-prohibitive? If I had the money, I would have continued the laser treatments, but even they seemed to take a long time.
ALSO, my hair used to be really thick and lustrous when I was in my twenties. It was shiney and bouncy. Now that I am in my thirties (35), it has gotten brittle and dull. It doesn’t have the bounce that it used to have..it’s coarser. I don’t blow dry it often, and I condition it. But I don’t like putting a lot of product on it because it makes it feel tacky and a different texture. Please give me advise on what I can do, if anything, to reverse this.
.

In may case, it was just the opposite. My hair was thinning when I was in my late teens and early twenties. Now, I’m almost 35 and my hair couldn’t be any better. Even though I do have a problems with hormones, I never really thought it was affecting my hair. Over the years, I’ve discovered a few things that affect the way my hair is either thin or “thick” (simply just looks better).
When I was younger, I was really worried and some people would tell me, I’d be bald in the future. I remember buying all these products (and spending all the money) to prevent that from happening. I thought my hair was falling out like crazy! (And it probably did). I treated myself with perms constantly to make my hair look fuller.
This lasted for years. Then I moved to another country (USA which was on the other side of the globe and the climate was warmer) and my hair situation persisted; however; it seemed it was falling out a little bit less…
When the straight perm (the Magic Japanese method) fever hit the US a few years back, I knew I had to go get it (even though my hair was naturally straight but freezy – from all the product I was using). I remember, it cost me like over $400!!! And my hair ended up looking awful. I even thought about suing the salon (where people pretended they didn’t speak any English). I cried for many, many days…
It was then I started letting go of the all the hair product – nothing would help… I started to treat my hair with Jergens Daily Mosturizer, using just a dab, to smooth my hair. I decided, if it was good for my skin, why wouldn’t be good for my hair? And it worked. After a year of using it (and my hair become really nice), my then employer recommended her hairstylist to me. I went and from now on, my hair was getting better and better. Still, I was blow drying my hair every other day and using Jergens.
Another couple of years had passed and the Magic Straight Perm was completely gone. My hair become freezy again and Jergens would make it flat and greasy. Then I discovered Garnier Fructis Style Curl Construct Mousse. It could be left in my hair without blow drying and it would make my hair completely straight! After it dried, I would give it some shape with a wide tooth comb and my fingers and give it a final touch with Salon Grafix Shaping Hairspray Extra Hold. This worked for me for quite a while and my hair had bounce, it was also soft and super shiny.
Last summer, I traveled to two different countries with two different climates. One was very dry and warm (where my hair was awesome); the other was wet an cold (my home country). Guess what. Back in my home country, my hair went back to its original style. It started falling out like crazy again, it would take at least 2 hrs. To air dry, and it was dull, freezy, and flat. No product would help – not even those that I had with me from US. I went there for a haircut which would make my hair even worse yet again.
However, after arriving back in US, my hair started to heal… I visited my very talented hairstylist (the one my former employer had recommended) and she brought it back to health.
Now, I don’t use the Garnier Mousse anymore. I let my hair air dry and then just shape it with a comb and my fingers and spray it with the Shaping Hairspray. That’s it. My hair is nice, soft, super shiny and never sticky (using the mousse in the past would make my hair sticky at times).
Thus, based on my experience, less is more. Leave your hair alone and let it be. Learn to love your hair the way it is. Enhance your hair with only one product (Shaping Hairspray). If you color your hair, go with a dark hue as opppose to light. Dark hue will heal your hair over time. It may show your bald spots at the beginning; however, if given time, it will help restore your hair and will give it sexy shine (I dye my hair blue black – you could go for dark mahogany to soft or brown black. Don’t go for pure brown or red hues – it will make your hair brassy). Skip the conditioner. Seriously. Find yourself a hairstylist that is actually educated in the field (it’s worth it to spend money at a high end salon), have a simple trim once in a while, and let her condition your hair then. On your own, only put the conditioner on your hair’s ends, before shampooing. This treatment will prevent your hair from becoming brittle and dull. DO NOT apply conditioner on your roots EVER. After every coloring, revitalize your hair with Biosilk Hair Therapy. Leave it in your hair over night. 150 ml bottle will last you forever.
Please remember, give your hair time to heal with this treatment. It will take at least 3-6 mos. Until you see results. If you are still desperate, you may opt for volumizing hair extensions as well (they are not as expensive as laser); however, I advise common sense. Do what you feel is right for your hair. Do not go for volumizing products only because they say they work (in reality they don’t).
And consider moving if you

I JUST HAD A BABY TWO MONTHS AGO AND THE FATHER OF MY CHILD FAMILY DOESN’T LIKE ME. AFTER I HAD THE BABY WE GOT BACK TOGETHER AND EVERYTHING WAS GREAT. AFTER I CAME BACK FROM THE HOSPITAL HE CAME TO MY HOUSE WITH DNA KIT HE BROUGHT A HOME DNA KIT FROM WALGREEN’S. WE TOOK THE TEST AND HIS MOTHER MAILED THEM OFF 5 DAYS LATER(WHICH COULD HAVE GAVE HER TIME TO TAMPER WITH THEM), WHEN HE GOT THE RESULTS BACK HE CALLED ME MAD SAYING THAT MY DAUGHTER WASN’T HIS. I TOOK ANOTHER TEST WITH ANOTHER PERSON WHO HIS FAMILY SAID I SLEPT WITH WE WENT TO A LAB(THE LEGIT WAY) AND THE RESULTS ALSO CAME BACK THAT MY DAUGHTER WASN’T HIS. NOT ONLY THAT BUT THE GENETIC MARKER WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE FIRST TEST. COULD THEY HAVE BOUGHT ANOTHER TEST AND FAKED THE SAMPLES? AND CAN’T YOU GET JAIL TIME FOR THAT. NOW WHEN I CALL HIM HE SAYS THAT HE DOESN’T WANT TO TAKE ANOTHER TEST WHICH I FIND FISHY AND START TO THINK THAT HE HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT ALSO. I NEVER CHEATED ON HIM AT ALL WHEN WE WERE TOGETHER. I KNOW HIS FAMILY DOESN’T LIKE ME BUT I FIND IT WRONG THAT THEY WOULD DO MY DAUGHTER LIKE THAT JUST BECAUSE OF THE FEELING THEY HAVE FOR ME. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ANSWERS TO MY SITUATION, AND ONLY MATURE ANSWER. I FIND THIS SITUATION VERY MAJOR BECAUSE THIS IS CONCERNING MY DAUGHTER.
THANKS!!!
TYRA

Definitely strange, even the fact they held onto it for 5 days before sending it is strange. Why did they have it in the first place? You can try to talk to him about doing another test, offer to pay for it and send it off together, he really has nothing to lose and that way no one can get blamed for tampering with it. If he won’t agree to that you can actually get a court order for him to take a test because if he is legally the father he has to pay child support. Something you may have to talk to a lawyer about.
If you are 100% sure he is the father, i’d spend the extra money to go to a dna clinic to take the samples, these Walgreen’s ones you can buy off the shelf really don’t sound too reliable. Even though its very possible don’t go accusing his family of tampering with the results, it will only upset him and make matters worse.
I wish you all the best.

Ok I purchased a paternity test and my results finally came back today. Now its Strange because my son looks like my ex fiance. And Many Friends and family members believe that my ex is his father. Well I went with Identigene because it was affordable. Instead of having my ex tested, i had the other guy tested. The test came back that the other guy was not excluded from being the father. I called my sister and She told me to get a second opinion….
Also i was a bit confused by this part of the test. It said: The combined parentage index is 70,217,000 (corresponding to a probability of paternity of 99.9%, assuming prior probability = 0.5)
and indicates that these genetic data are 70,217,000 times more likely if _____is the Biological father of ________than if an untested, unrelated white man is the biological father. The Genetic analysis excludes at least 99.99% of white men from paternity.
Anyone tried this company at all? Anyone trust this company? I was thinking of sending in another kit with different names on it instead to see how accurate it really is. the kit was only 30$ and the lab fee’s were only 119$

The test results indicate that he is considered to be the biological father. I work for Identigene. The assumption of probability of 0.5 indicates that when we receive the DNA for testing, we assume the alleged father has 50/50% chance of being the biological father, either yes or no. The Combined Parentage Index (CPI) is based of calculations of the matching Loci (each marker tested that match is given a number based on how common it is in the population and calculated to give the CPI). In order to be considered the biological father that number has to be above 100. Your PCI is very high, which is a strong indication of paternity.

John asks…
I’m just wondering what people think APR is, and their opinions.
I breed 4 of my Bichon Frises, and they are all APR registered.
I just want to say a few things…
I’m not part of puppy mill,
My dogs are all pure bred,
I do no cross breed, {Breed the daughter with the father, etc.}
I use to use AKC, then they sent me a little kit for genetic testing for my boy, Albert. I sent the kit 4 times, because they said they couldn’t get anything from the swab. I only have one male, and there is no way my girls could of gotten outside, they’re indoor dogs, and they are walked on a leash.
I understand that there is a chance of puppy mills and people who cross breed.
Also, if you have AKC, you can register your dog with any registration, including UKC, and APR.
Also, forgot to mention, I have a dog who is registered with UKU, AKC, and APR. You can’t go through UKU with a mixed breed. they have extremely strict requirements. And. Albert was, well technically still with AKC, APR and AKC registered.

No idea. I doubt you will find an answer in this category though.

I think the “Registration” confused you, but here it means license plates.

If you post more info on your question, we’ll try to answer.
EDIT: The FDA has blocked WG from selling the test for the time being.
I doubt seriously that even if they do eventually sell the test that it will have much of an effect on the stock.
